The Au Train River flows through the Hiawatha National Forest in Alger County to Au Train Lake and Lake Superior, carrying brook trout in its upper reaches and receiving steelhead in spring. Near Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and the Lake Superior shore.
The Au Train River is an accessible UP brook trout stream near the Munising area, making it a natural fishing complement to visits to Pictured Rocks. The Hiawatha National Forest manages the river corridor and maintains access sites. Brook trout throughout the upper river; steelhead entering from Lake Superior in spring in the lower section near Au Train Lake.
